So Much About The Promised Land!

Most of the time we want to feel very blessed when we look at the latest development in our country, we want to gallivant around and feel very proud that the ties between China and Kenya have brought immense wealth to out state Kenya but have we ever stopped to think why, this is happening.

From ancient per-colonial time how did the British colonized Africa and its inhabitants and the rest of the world. first they built the railway, then they brought religion and what followed was history. China has built the super highway and aren't we elated by this new discovery of the Chinese magic, we have more than often met our brothers and sisters on the road commenting on the remarkable works that they have done. its not like i am anti-development but what am preaching here is more like we should give such a matter all the seriousness that it carries with it. Upon the the completion of the magnificent Thika road in comes the Lamu Port Project, a multi-billion project that is supposed to ease congestion at the port of Lamu. Such a novel and noble idea my fellow statesmen, am personally excited to see the outcome of the miraculous works of the Chinese once more. Then what will be next, because as a matter of fact, their sub-standard goods have flooded the market and they have within a snap made many local businesses to lift the corporate veil, for lack of market, they have eventually closed their doors.

What next , i ask my fellow statesmen what next? before we learn a good lesson, they say do not judge a book by the cover i say hell no! some books are just unpalatable from the onset, if something looks suspicious on the outer why  would you want to risk confirming the obvious, but of course that's my opinion, please  express yours. After how long before we find a Chinese Brewery, selling beer at a very low price(not that i can even complain), they have made our stadium into a state of the art facility that has earned the envy of our neighbors that it even sounds insane to complain, but what startles me is that history may judge us harshly if we do not take care. This guys have in the international arena operated and dealt in contrasting goods with the original brand only that their is far more cheaper but sadly not up to standard, what makes us so special that they would have our best interests at heart,is it that we are a third world state that we require such ridicule, are they making a mockery of us or are we just being paranoid and even if why don't they give us a reason to dissolve this situation of uncertainty.

China has been labelled an escapist among the 5 permanent members of the United Nations with Veto power. Why is this so? Because over the recent past it has been non participatory in resolutions that require voting against poor states. In essence china is protecting its interests in such states since it  has been amassing wealth by investing in poor states as a result it has grown its economy to the second greatest economy in the world , so you see poverty plus underdevelopment equals attraction of Chinese investors. They say though shall not complain they are developing our country i say let our government not be naive and be brainwashed by the small incentives, they should look at the big picture and tackle this issue with the agility that befits it.

The simple facts of trade, both of goods and services, is that both parties must be willing to exchange , in this case Kenya is a willing buyer they are the willing seller. In this global economy, the flow of goods and services across borders, otherwise known as trade, is a critical factor to the health and growth of a country’s economy. Yet many developing countries struggle with legal, institutional, and operational constraints that impede trade expansion. let us not be hoodwinked by the glittering of the Chinese prosperity in Kenya because in the long run we shall be the ones losing out, our local businesses will go under it means, we go to them for employement , of which from primary geography the profits are repatriated to their mother country. Now i hope my point of Neo-colonialism has arrived home, we clearly don't want to go that path again because its horrible our great forefathers have been there and if they woke up from the dead right now we don't want them to drop dead again because of the horror that our country has turned out to be.

Give it time in the next several years those people will be on our streets and we will not be able too distinguish it from the streets of shanghai. no disrespect my Chinese brothers we just have to take caution we do not fully understand your intentions in Kenya and Africa at large.Dear statesmen i think we are cleverer than this however one day we pray we shall know their intentions and we pray further that we are proved wrong. Brethrens a time will come when we have to look back at what we should have done to save this nation from external invasion and for sure its coming, and am not keeping quiet......
