When Education Was A Basic Right!

One of the public institutions that I hold in great contempt is the Kenya police, this does not culminate from my criminal inclinations or anything sinister but the mere spite I have for this people. The police have for a long time been used as a broom for cleaning someone’s mess.
If there is an institution that people are required to have, high levels of education are the law enforcement agency. But look at what has been happening in police recruitment exercises, we are basically taking those people that have refused to partake in the activity of going to school to head our security, am not shocked that we keep getting bombed even at the heart of our secure area. Security personnel who cannot act on intelligence, in order to override an impending crisis is not worth their name.
The police force ought to carry out a drastic face lift to weed out all those pot bellied officers who have neither brain nor strength to fire a bullet. No offence to any officer reading this post, but just imagine a policeman with a degree (thumbs up for those that have made the stride), a person who can be able to articulate matters with the correct attitude not solving issues with a series of meaningless questions only aimed at ridiculing the respondent, if they would have taken their time to stay in class and gain something they would know that some people have actually answered so many questions that they don't have the patience to respond to stupidly structured questions designed to annoy.

I think the police force is one of those institutions with the least academicians and even those that exist, are those that that first went to school before joining the police as specialists. Police only take pride in their ranks, I think this is the only place that you get a rank without doing anything for instance let me say sergeant or corporal any ordinary police has that title  without struggle just go out gun blazing and kill a few thieves and innocent Kenyan and kaboom! you have a higher rank. I would be happy to one day see the police having a Dr at the beginning of their name and not simply the major someone there.
It’s also not a shock that the police commissioner vow to sabotage any  attempts to put a civilian to head the police force, this shows a deliberate endeavor to lock out knowledgeable persons from the highly tainted police force. The force is so rotten that they cannot afford an external person coming to laugh at their inaptness
The other day I was in a social joint in my neighborhood, when skimpily dressed emaciated so called police raided my joint demanding to see the license of operation, the manner that they conducted the operation pitted me against them totally, common good manners has disserted some people, uttering  obscenities they went ahead to confiscate the liquor while manhandling the ladies at the counter, I was so shocked because this are the same guys that come every day to collect their cut, I wondered what had happened that day? Education, a very basic right and they refused it how weird. It looks to me like these guys only read the part of the law that say prohibit, offense and arrest coz that’s what they come to do.

The Kenya we want is the Kenya with policemen with degrees period. Why would some of  us go to law school and toil then we come to be handled by nincompoops, this people are in charge of major investigations in this country yet they are ill equipped, yes ill equipped not with facilities but with knowledge upstairs. So don’t wonder when high caliber criminals walk scot free because of shoddy investigation by the police because, criminals are actually among the most learned people in society only that they got tired of earning an honest living or are too lazy to work for money. On that note I pen down and hope that I get to live another day check on me just in case………….
